Healthy replacements for the drink of doom.
Hi, so I know this might be an incredibly stupid question but...
I know I can never drink again, because of health reasons obviously, but sometimes, even though I know alcohol largely screwed up my life, I still miss the high and the satisfying feeling.
Does anybody know of any good ways to somehow create a similar feeling? Like a good jog, or something?
Again I'm sorry for the dumb question.

Your question is far from stupid. Acknowledging that there were some instances, specially in my early years of drinking that the buzz was not unpleasant. Far from that, it was actually fun.
Thing is that for me it stopped being fun at some point. It became something I needed to function and deal with life. That being said, lately I tend to find content in small things. Kind of a natural buzz. After a workout for example, or seeing my son grow up.

I've realised that I'm constantly seeking the same feeling from elsewhere and nothing will ever really be the same (nothing legal anyway lol)...but although not the same I did feel really good when I went to the gym and exercised. Haven't for a bit and really need to go back. I found it helped with the cravings and did give somewhat of a feel good feeling afterwards. Otherwise it tends to be coffee for me which isn't exactly healthy tho better than the alternative. Xx
That is a really good question... Apart from medication I do find a good work out at the gym really lifts my mood!!!! Yes, it is hard to force ourselves down the gym but work at it & after a few weeks you get hooked...
Excercise...and push yourself a little...Huff and Puff and keep it up for 30 mins or so. Get some endorphins flowing.
When you get home... rest. Have a soda water...something "fizzy"...and a twist of lemon or lime. If you just HAVE to sweetin it up...a little Stevia or splenda...or...OK, sugar.

That's a bloody good question!
I'd love to know the answer as well.
So far for me, I've been on the GB (Ginger Beer) and doing some lines of almond fingers. Have taken a few Japanese curries. So stuff that's bad for me.
Telling myself it's not as bad as drinking. And it's cheaper. So there's that.

Coffee and smoking for most. I don't smoke but use coffee, soda, hot chocolate, tea. I notice some are using those energy drinks for a lift. But the ultimate source of sustained daytime energy is a good diet and plenty of sleep they say.
But what I want to tell you is to try the Buderin Ginger Cordial (there are 2 types). I have it with soda water and it's got a strong ginger taste, not too sweet. I am now growing ginger in pots so I can make my own.
I'm not sure if you can buy it in the US, but strangely, it's available in Germany.
