Been away but now I'm back

I'm sure you can guess what happened... Relapse after five months sober. Things weren't too bad for a while, I had missed my old friend the bottle and welcomed him with open arms, but before long he turned on me. Clouded judgement led to poor decisions and my abusive alcoholic ex charmed me into a second go around. Predictably at first it was all lovely but things quickly reverted until yesterday when, hungover as a towel on a bath rack, I fled to a sober friends house and dumped him again by text.

So here I am starting over. I didn't drink yesterday. Feeling fine so far as I'm just grateful to have some peace back in my life. But after my failure I know I need to look into wider options for maintaining sobriety than I did last time.

I hope you're all doing well, and if not, that you'll soon be doing better.

I was five months sober too and I went back at it. Took me a year and a half to get back to sobriety.

But now I can see a year and a half of sobriety on the horizon and it's beautiful.
