Hello and welcome:

Have you heard about the AV? I hear it all over your post. Read a lot and post when you need to. This community can really make a difference. I know it did for me...

Hi MBCUK

Just wanted to check in to see how you're doing today?

Any more thoughts on what your next stage could be?

Hope you're well today

Hi MBCUK and welcome to the forum

You say you have a wife, 2 kids, run a hotel etc. That's great. But what's more important - all that or your pride? If you carry on the way you are you are risking losing ALL of that. You need to swallow your pride and speak to your GP.

You say you are drinking 20 units a day. Do you drive? If so you are risking your life and the lives of everyone else sharing the road with you.

Please don't think I am being sanctimonious - the fact I am a member of her means I have a problem - but I don't want you to lose what you have,

Welcome. It is frustrating to figure out what to do especially at first. Your first step was admitting that you aren't comfortable with your alcohol consumption. Not sure why any doctor would be that blasé about alcohol consumption as high as yours, but maybe he is old school or hasn't been updated on the effects of alcohol on overall health. Find another doctor who is more educated and keep posting here. We are your support group until you feel comfortable enough to find one for you locally. I know it isn't easy. Most of all, be safe and kind to yourself.
