i'm not a massive Star Trek fan but i have watched a few episodes. and if its quite alright i think its the character known as darth vader who i would like my words attached with - is that ok?
rock n roll Dave!

I'm a huge fan of STNG also, what a great show. I still watch it periodically. I sometimes find comfort in watching old shows; perhaps it's the familiarity and predictability.
Loony Toons rocks too, always liked their slapstick humor.

And what a loss to us Trekkie fans, Lenard Nimoy passed away yesterday at the age of 83. COPD was the cause, brought on by cigarette smoking even though he quit 30 years ago, what a loss.
Dear Dave,
I would think that crossing the line over to "losing it" is well illustrated by this alcoholic version of Jean-Luc Picard:
BBC News - Urinating man claimed to be Star Trek's Jean-Luc Picard
All the best on your continuing recovery!
Mel

that, Mel12, just made me laugh so hard i forgot who, when and where i was for a moment! thank you. i have just settled down after a serious bout of uncontrollable shameless laughter. dunno if it was appropriate to laugh but i simply could not help myself. "officer - i am jean luc picard, captain of the starship enterprise" ... oh! my! god! absolute class.

You just opened an intractable Pandora's box: TNG absolutely rocked! I'm personally a fan of Q. Let's call it what it is - the only species that could kick the Borg's butt with a blink. I always wondered why Piccard didn't just ask for Q's help with the Borg - given his infatuation with the Enterprise
