Day 20 - Blood Work Test Result
Day 20 - Blood Work Test Result
Hi Everyone,
Just come from the Doctors and had a chat about my Blood Work. The Doctor has indicated, I have Pre-Diabetes, but this may go away now I have become abstinent. My Liver results are clear and shows no fatty liver indicators or liver failure. My other organs are fine.
He explained to me, if I had continued or resumed drinking then it is likely I would have developed Type II Diabetes. He said Pre diabetes is a serious wake up call.
It looks like I got out of this one by the skin of my teeth.

Staying sober will definitely help.
But don't overlook the role of diet and exercise. So many of the health problems we encounter as we grow older are directly impacted by what we put into our bodies, and what we do (e.g. smoking) or don't do (e.g. exercise).
The point is, our health as we grow older is greatly impacted by our behavior today. I wish I would have paid more attention to this when I was in my 20's.

Blood tests
Congratulations Lancashire I reckon that is as good an incentive as any to stay sober
I had a blood test myself on 5th January ie a few days after I quit drinking. The results show that I have a low iron and B12 count (borderline anaemic). I'm due another test on 8th Feb to see if not drinking for a month brings it back to what it should be or at least shows that it is heading in the right direction.
I was wondering if anyone else had any experience of this or similar i'm just hoping there is no permanent damage
