Lookit me, I'm DANCIN'!!!!
Lookit me, I'm DANCIN'!!!!
A lot of times I see post out here about "what will I DO now that I don't drink!?!?"
"I'm so BORED!!!!"
"How will I spend my TIME"???
"All I can do is sit around wishing I could DRINK"
"All of my friends drink, that's all there is to DO!!!"
Baloney, I say.
Nonsense.
I've been finding more and more interesting fun things to do in life. There is a world full of things to discover and experience and enjoy and that, my friends, is LIFE.
Sitting around doing whatever it is you happen to be doing as an excuse to have drinking be your focal point of life is not living. It's not life. It's purgatory. It's waiting around to die.
Today my lady and I started our dance class. I never learned how to dance. Sure, I've done the sixth grade shuffle at school dances and weddings and occasionally hacked my way through a drunken line dance and certainly I've had my share of nights where I was sure that my mad moves were the absolute HIT of the nightclub thanks to my pals vodka and cranberry..... but no, I never actually learned to dance.
So today I'm with my lady, feeling healthy, happy and free - learning how to dance. Started my day with an AA meeting on Gratitude Tuesday and off on another new adventure trying something in my 40's that I've always wanted to do.
There's a whole big huge LIFE out there folks. EVERY SINGLE DAY is another choice;
Live it.....
Or wait around to die.

Dancing is good !
I think we addicts tend to have such a narrow focus that we forget there's a whole lotta fun things to do out there. A whole lot.
Thank you for another inspiring post, FO.

Congrats! But please understand - not all of us have a "lady". (In my case, a "man"). Some of us are completely alone in seeking our sobriety.
In your shoes I would dance too. But from where I sit, I don't have a dancing partner, nor any other kind of partner.

In many ways I think being without a partner is an even better reason to do something like this!!!
