I started drinking when i was about 17 / 18 years old. Drinking got progressively worse in my early twenties, by mid twenties my drinking was completely out of control. I stopped drinking when i was 26 years old and i will be 29 next month (sober 27 months). Best decision i have ever made!

28 in '89- 8 yrs. sober
Drank 14
49 in "10-4 yrs. sober
Drank 7 months
53 and Sober 6+ months
Can't give up any more chunks. Some yrs. of drinking were incarcerated-- I don't count forced sobriety. If I count all that and stay sober 3 more, I will have been sober more than half my adult drinking life starting at 18, the legal age in FL when I was growing up.

I didn't start drinking seriously until I was in my mid-30's and drank hard until I was in my early 40-'s. I quit then, with nothing other than family support, until I reached my early 70's. I had over thirty good, sober years. Then, because of family health issues, I started drinking again. I'm 77 now and have been sober for over a year. This time I relied on AVRT and used SR's 24 hour club to maintain a sense of accountability. I'm now committed to lifelong sobriety; I don't think I have another sobering-up left in me.
First drink at 18
Started drinking on weekends at 21
First drink by myself at 22
Normal drinking until 27 and then started binging on the weekends
Morning & binge drinking started at 31
Blackouts started at 32
Hamster wheel of quitting for a day or 2 then back to binging/blacking out/making an ass of myself/shame/drinking in secrecy every day from 32-44 (with the exception of 2 pregnancies)
Quit for good at 44 - it will be 5 months this week

Started drinking late in high school and through my 20's. Real problems started at about 31 for me. The last 3-4 years have been the real progression and have been trying to quit just as I turned 35.

I had a bad relationship with alcohol from my first drink at 13. I never drank "normal". From 17- 28 I was into drugs and clubbing and alcohol was always present. It wasn't until I quit drugs that my drinking really stepped up. I've been pretty much a daily drinker ever since until now that I've quit at 36. The parties over!! My mind and body can't take anymore and this sobriety is feeling fine! Feeling good feels good!
Thankfully my problem started late and ended relatively quickly. I started drinking several times a week at 23 and by 24 I was at home every night by myself drinking myself to sleep. Decided on my 26th birthday that enough was enough. I am now 28 and have spent 22 of the last 27 months sober. Trying to make this my first full year without alcohol.
started drinking about 15 years old, getting pretty drunk on weekends, getting pretty good grades in high school. Kept that up during college, and always compared my sporadic binge blackout drinking with the people who dropped out of school, instead of the people who never drank. I never drank on weekdays but i'd drink 4-8 beers on weekends, and maybe 20+ every other month. I realized i had a problem at about 40, slowed down for a few years, then completely quit at 48. It took much longer to feel normal without drinking than i thought it would. Anyone who says they will "quit tomorrow" really doesn't understand how long it takes to break a habit.

Had my first drink freshman year of college, single glass of champagne at a friend's birthday. Probably started drinking alcoholically around age 22 or 23. I'm 26 now and it's only gotten worse. No more.
37 when I stopped. Drank/ drugged for about 24 years.
One of the most awesome AA speakers I ever heard:
42 when she gave that open talk
And had Just celebrated 28 years sober.
