How old were you when you stopped?
I stopped át 32. First drink at 19 but did not drink alcoholically til 23. Nine years of daily drinking. Started with probably four drinks a night at 23 and I had an off switch. Fast forward to 30 and my nightly "sweet spot" was 12-14 units of vodka.
Diagnosed with inflamed liver at 32. I had to stop or I would die soon.

First started at 17 , binge drank weekends only until 21...Then drank on and off 3 or 4 beers, mainly weekends,,At about 35 , got laid off , then 4 years later lost my house of 10 years , 4 years later the house we were in got foreclosed on....Somewhere in between 2005 and this past Nov, 12 -20 beers were downed a day...I quit Nov 13 2014 , turned 44 on Nov 25th...Barely remember my Birthday I was hurtin so bad by that time and that continued for a few weeks,,
Started drinking at 16 and never even tried to stop till I was 54. I now have not had a drink in 29 months and have also been off pot for over 2 years..... which I also started using as a teenager.
Like headcase, I am done. I love my sober life and refuse to go back to my old habits.

I started drinking socially mostly while partying at 14, but pretty infrequently, although I did tend to go on some bad binges in my teens and early 20's when I did drink. I never had anything I experienced as a problem with drinking till ~32, and quit at 40. So alcoholism was the code of my 30's.

Jeez trying to remember my first time, I had sips of beer here and there when i was younger...I didn't really have a drinking event until early high school, then i would get depressed and drink vodka. Then after high school i stopped drinking, wasn't mind thing...Then i get into a car accident completely sober and after the fear of death started drinking...
Im 26 now and i have been a regular drinker since i was 19, Trying to quit now before my liver jumps ship on me.

Got through my 20's fairly normally. 30 or 31 was when it really hit, every day drinking until I would pass out. Because of my work schedule that morphed into binging for 2 or 3 days a week with lighter (3-6 drinks) drinking the rest of the week for the past 5 or 6 years.
I'm 41 now.

I married & toasted with red fruit punch at 20. I didn't drink in my first marriage. I married at 30, to my sweet hubby. We became drinking buddies, escalating our alcohol intake as the years went by. By my mid forties I am drinking everyday. At age 55 I couldn't do this anymore. No buzz, no high anymore just depressed! I have been in recovery since November 12, 2012. Thanks, sincerely, to my HP & AA.

I didn't really drink much as a teen.
My real drinking started when I was 24 - just after my dad died. This is when my health anxiety started .... it was awful - the only thing that would help was a few glasses of wine in the evening .... I got a couple of hours of "normal" in the evening. Of course - the following day the health anxiety was even worse .... nothing else for it, apart from more wine !!
My mum died when I was 29 - my health anxiety went into complete over drive then.....and so did the wine intake.
I have drank red wine every night since I've been 24 ... with a brief brake for 2 pregnancies & the odd few days here and there to heal my liver....
I had my last drink on Christmas Day - I'm 43 now.....19 years of drinking !!!

Quit at 37. Drinking didn't become problematic until my mid 20's, so that's a little over a decade of lame behavior. In my case, I knew from early on that my drinking pattern was unhealthy. I remember cracking open beers alone in my apartment at around 26 y/o and thinking to myself, "This isn't good. But there's always time to deal with it later." Well, thank god that time is finally here.
