I am new here
Hello, I am Jim and I am an alcoholic. Last year (2003) I was deeply depressed and tired of my drinking so I decided to drink as much as I could to end my life thru alcohol poisoning. My habit was 1 fifth of whiskey daily and more on my days off. The day I tried to drown my monkey in booze I had consumed 2 gallons of whiskey, thank God I called someone dear to me in my drunkin stuper. They called the police and I was put in a lock-down ward in a hospital. After two days I was released with the options of going to a sober community for a year or a family members house. I chose the latter and got into a program, I have been sober for 8 months now. I have only touched the surface of my drinking and want to go further. I am happy that I found this site as I think it will help. I am going to change my life and It is one of my wishes to make new friends (sober) and help those who still sufer.
Hi Jim,
Welcome and you've found a great place for support and understanding. I think it's a journey that takes a long time and a lot of work. It's been a few years of sobriety for me now and I'm still learning every day. I find that people here at SR encourage me to challenge myself and move forward.
I'm glad you've joined us.
Love, Anna
