Just posting

Just writing to occupy myself as this morning the cravings to go to a bar or the store for a bottle are really overpowering, just when I think I have it licked I go thru this, well if I'm posting I'm not drinking. I'm thankful for SR, it's a life line that's right in my house.

Glad you posted, zeppodog. Stay put; don't go out; this urge will pass in time. Allow the urge to pass.

I read on another thread this morning that thinking you have it licked can be dangerous; maybe read around the threads some today and read the stickies.

I agree zeppodog...SR is critical for me too. I'm learning from folks like you how to handle the hard days when they come. Take care and hang in there. I look forward to seeing you again on the 24 hour thread.

Get some exercise - it's the best way to work off the nervous energy. Even 50 jumping jacks, some pushups, squats - immediate relief.

Try googling deep breathing techniques; they help calm me down.

That general state of agitation is my biggest enemy...especially when I have time off and the weather keeps me inside. Tomorrow will likely be better!

Good point. If I didn't hit the weights daily I don't know how I'd manage.

Remember that you don't have to
carry all the stress on your shoulders
by urself. Talking about it and finding
healthy ways to deal with them and
get rid of them so they don't keep
you sick.

We worry so much about many things
which keeps the burdens heavy on our
hearts, minds and souls.

You can be free from those heavy burdens
with help and guidance from those who have
experienced similar things as you and have
learned to replace them with healthy choices
in life.

Drinking causes more misery and not
a good healthy choice in life as we know.

my urges came when I experienced feelings or feelings that were coming forth....I wanted to avoid feeling things....

and also remember hungry, angry, lonely or tired and sometimes pain. when those crept up, an urge also crept up.....

Is there a way you could reduce some of the stress in your life? I learned over time that nothing will be so bad in my life that a drink will make better Keep taking care of you!

Hey zeppodog-

I've also been having some cravings the past two days, which seemed to have come out of the blue. I'm hoping that it's due to the holidays and not something that will be around for much longer. I'm not loving the fact that they still can creep up, but I suppose that's just the way it is.

Yes, there's SR to help, which I'm taking full advantage of.

Let's fight the fight and stay the course.

Hey man stay strong. Today I woke up, smoked some smoke, went and hung out with someone for a couple of hours, was thinking about drinking the whole time, left cos I wanted to get some drinks, went home, started drinking. ( felt crap. The whole process of buying alcohol is aweful.

I recommend overeating and watching a full season of something stupid in one go.

I'm stuck in an airport with a delayed flight. I'm going to try a dose of my own advice, starting with ice cream!

I know you can make it Zeppo!

Definitely think about other ways to reduce and manage the stress Zeppodog - you can do this

I'm assuming 'smoke' means much the same the world over.
I think you were lost the minute you hit the smoke, Kimura.

Same parts of the brain get tickled, y'know?

I agree with Bimini in terms of doing some kind of exercise. That always helps me when I am bouncing off the walls. I am not sure if you've ever tried yoga (I do piyo which isn't yoga), but I find that I am in a better place mentally after it.
