Indigestion after quitting?
Hello again,
I stopped drinking November 14th after 10 years of drinking. Aside from all the usual symptoms I've started getting bouts of indigestion. At the top of my stomach and behind my breastbone.
This, combined with my anxiety makes me really fear the tightness in my chest. It's been 4 days now, so I'm pretty sure it isn't my heart. I'm going to cut out all soda, which is 1 or two a day and see if that helps. Anybody else had this?
Thanks in advance!

I had a lot of GI issues towards the end of my drinking and also for a while after I quit. Drinking can do a lot of damage to your GI tract, and it takes time to heal. Your best bet is to see a doctor if it doesn't resolve.
Muddy, I'll bet you had some health issues that have gone away since November 14th. I sure did: general digestion, acid, reflux, headaches (of course!), shaky hands, profuse sweating, high blood pressure, "liver pains," red face, red skin in general, puffy eyes, puffy face, alcoholic obesity, sever dehydration, daily diarrhea, red eyes, heart palpitations,!and general feelings of unease all went away for me.
Good health returns with sobriety!

Hi Muddy
I had some pains top left, centre and top right stomach. The top left pain had been there on and off for years. The others were new. They started about two weeks in, got worse for a week or three, and all the pain disappeared completely about two weeks ago. I'm 11 weeks in.

Not sure of your age or gender MW, but I would see a doctor to get it checked out. Gastric reflux can be easily treated these days, often by lifestyle adjustments.

FeelingGreat,
I'm a 38 year old make. If it doesn't subside I will for sure get checked out. I really appreciate the advice.
JanieJ,
Thanks a ton. That post made me feel tons better. I'm hoping mine goes away too. This will be day 1 without any soda.
