If it weren't for my Marchers on SR I would be what Rick Wakeman once noted: a pile of beer soaked denim.

meetings and just reminding myself that *I* don't want to drink. My "disease" or my "beast" (whatever you want to call it) is what wants that drink. I have the power to say no to those urges. So far its helped a lot.

All of the above mentioned, especially SR and threads like this one. I want to add replaying my detox helps me. I never want to go through that again.

My biggest 'tool' in my recovery has been my dogs and cats and caring for them. I know I'm a better person sober and give them the care they need and deserve. I never want to drink again cause it would make me a bad pet owner.

I stay sober for my dogs and cats and their love is my reward.

That is so sweet Least! I have kitties too (one is blind) and I know they need my sober attention too.

Ditto! And lot's of it!

Cardio really does make things much easier to tolerate, especially in the beginning. I just can't stress this enough.

This is a great thread.

Reading SR is a big help. I also think about my 3 year old daughter. I feel so guilty for drinking . . . I want to make sure that I'm there for her. Diet Sprite, bite-sized Snickers have helped too.
