its finally clear

I've finally realized that i cannot have one drink ever again.... there is no such thong as one drink for me i have no control over alcohol an the only way to win is to not have one........no matter how much i think i can buy a bottle an drink in moderation i always end up drinking it all an going back to the liquor store to buy more... an not to mention smoking an entire pack of cigarettes...... i absolutely cannot have one....

Reaching that exact conclusion was key to my recovery, too, tonib. Power on.

I know. That's the conclusion I had to come to also. Wish it hadn't taken me decades to figure it out. I remember buying a bottle of wine and doing just what you said - polishing it off and rushing to the store for more - much more. Once that first drink hit my system, everything changed.

I'm glad you've reached this decision and are ready to get free tonib. There's no doubt that you can do it.

If im so happy i want to drink... if im mad i want a drink... but its never a drink its always a binge.... went a few months without a drink up until a few weeks ago.. an within three weeks i drank 8 times or would i say 8 days during the last few weeks... even though it was not daily it was starting to increase at a rapid rate...then i had the thought of just drinking on the weekends.... which still rolled over till Sunday... the only choice is absolutely no drinking under any circumstances and to read the blue book till im blue

I don't have an off switch either. 2 turn into 15 and that turns into 4 days in a row. Glad your back. What did you do for the few months you had to stay sober then?

It sounds as though you have reached a turning point in your life! The time is NOW to make a change that will save you a lot of pain and misery. What you have said is basically Step 1 in Alcoholics Anonymous. Once you can admit that you are powerless over alcohol to yourself you are ready to make the changes needed to live a sober life.

Go to an AA meeting. Listen. Look for the similarities not the differences. Don't pick up that first drink. Stay sober 'One Day At A Time!' REPEAT. Pick up a 24HR chip when you can... then a 1 month chip and keep coming back.

You CAN do this! Reach out here before you take that first drink.

Good Luck!

I remember buying a fifth of vodka and, after drinking it in about 3 hours, going back to the store for more only the same clerk was working and she refused to serve me. She knew I had drank the first one already just by looking at me.
