Talking The Bug has landed here and plans on nesting to start recovery

I'm sober.
I'm here on this message board.
I jumped in the November club.
My mind is clear.
My heart is in the game.
I'm ready for a change.

The Bug has taken control. The first step is behind me. Now I begin to make my action plan.

It is nice to meet you.
Happy Saturday All.

Bug

Hello and glad you're ready for a plan of action, whatever that may be.
Put all the you listed to work and you'll be a miracle in the making.
Best to you.

Weekends are hard for me. My husband is a drinker (he is a controlled one) and he is drinking now while he is doing yard work. I look at him and wonder why I can't have a few drinks and call it a night. I am a glutton. I have my eye on the next drink when i haven't even started the first one. It disgusts me. The fact that i want it right now disgusts me. I wish he wouldn't drink in front of me now. It is my first day. Is that selfish of me?

You're transferring your disgust with your drinking to your husband. That ain't good or right. YOU think YOU need to stop drinking. Focus on that.

Bug, welcome!

Have you told your husband that it bothers you if he drinks around you? Or, can you go for a walk or somewhere else in the house while he is drinking?

I don't agree. I do not begrudge him his right to drink. I just wish I didn't have to see it right now. Being around alcohol right now is hard. However I am taking steps to avoid the temptation. Like posting on this board. I am focused.

I haven't said anything to him. This is my problem, not his. I own my problem. I just have to get used to it. I can't be selfish anymore.

By the way - thanks for the warm welcome! This is a good group. I know because I have been here before. Different time, different screen name. I needed a fresh start.

You can be so selfish that you don't end up killing yourself with alcohol and we'll all support you!

I do feel upbeat! I am living real life right now. I am playing with my kids while I take care of my responsibilities as a wife and mom. I am doing this instead of hiding with a bottle and an intention to drink until I pass out. I like this life instead! I want to grab sobriety by the horns and never let go!
