New here, because of new love
I want to thank you all for the warm welcome and your support!
I appreciate what you mentioned about the most important thing is to want to be sober for myself and also promise to myself. I realise this is true and want to continue this path even if my love would leave me, which of course could happen even for some other reason than drinking. That should not make me to get back to my old ways.
Still sober and have been reading a lot here, it's a releif to have you people who understand where I come from.
Today I cooked for my parents for the first time in ages. They were so thrilled and spoke about how wonderful it tasted. I'm not so sure it did, but they were overjoyed that I did it. I've missed so much time also with them, but I'm ready to try to make up for that.
So happy to have you here, I'm ready to keep working hard!

Forgive yourself for your past mistakes. Everyone on SR has done things that they truly regret while drinking. Sobriety gives you a chance to make amends and show the people that you love that you are committed to change. Congrats on your time. This site is a great resource to staying sober. Have you considered any other aids to help?
I'm relatively new here as well, but there are two things that the folks here have taught me that have been really helpful, especially when I get weak....
1. Nothing good comes from alcohol, nothing.
2. I do not need alcohol to live my life.
Helped me just tonight, not to have a glass of wine, before, during and after dinner
Glad you joined, it is nice knowing there actually are people just like yourself. Sobriety is much better

I don't have any other support (than my boyfriend) at the moment. I was thinking of joining some support group, but I 've been moving around quite a lot and been living abroad, so it's not so easy. So for now I've been coming here when I need to talk...or just read others stories
