struggling
I'm trying to stay on this straight path... but I keep relapsing periodically mostly with alcohol and amphetamines .
I feel like such a scumbag, and like I'll never get this right.
I just want to do good for myself and for my family

Hey there,
You aren't a scumbag. Addiction is really firkin hard work and I don't think anyone gets it right the first time. Be kind to yourself :=]
Can you identify any of the things that are happening when you slip up? What can you change that will stop that from happening? If you're like me at times, you maybe expect abstinence to be workable when nothing else has changed. I think it requires some serious shifts in behaviour, social life, pretty much everything :=]
Honestly, I think trying is the best thing. It's all we can really do.

Hi, do you have any support outside this forum? Have you tried any recovery meetings like AA, SMART, SOS, LIFERING?
Are you willing to do whatever it takes to stay sober?
Maybe start with getting rid of all the alcohol and drugs in your home?
It's hard at first, but not impossible.

Hello Nintendoguy90. I'm sorry to hear you're struggling. You don't say what plan you're using to stay sober, but regardless, it sounds like your plan isn't working for you. Please consider going to plan B. Consider a consultant(s). Build a coalition. Draw on whatever expertise you have access to and create a success plan to recover & stay sober. Lot's of expertise here on SR. Have you seen a Dr.? Do you attend support meetings? It's worth a try. Good luck.

hey nintendoguy
It's hard to change a life - we all get how tough it is.
Sometimes it comes down to working harder at staying sober than getting drunk, y'know?
what have you been doing to stay sober?
