No shame in my game
You are a very strong person. I'm impressed with your courage to tell your MIL. Don't give her response a moment more consideration. It's not worth it. Just let it go.
Focus on your vacation and how enjoyable it is without drinking. You will be surprised. I was.

You will feel amazing when your vacation is over and you have been sober the whole time. Well done! What a great husband you have. MIL sounds interesting and best delt with by being ignored. Hold your head up and be proud!

I loved reading this Hearts, you are such an inspiration!
I can totally imagine that what your mother-in-law said hurt you, but I am glad your husband was there to support you. People can be so insensitive sometimes. I hope you will be able to show her on this vacation just how much your decision has changed you for the better. Keep at it, stay strong and enjoy your holiday!

Thanks so much for all the support, congrats & encouragement, everyone! When you cheer me on you're cheering yourselves & everyone else on as well.
Vacation Day 2 is going to be challenging but ok & completely doable. Seeing people thru sober eyes is enlightening and unfortunately sometimes disappointing. But I'm going to stay on my side if the street & try to let everyone else be. I've got a good little vibe going here. Nobody's gonna interfere with that!
Can I get a witness?!

Incredible post, HeartsAFire. Your SR friends are so proud of you, too.
Courage, strength, fortitude, wisdom - all of the qualities necessary to achieve and maintain sobriety (all of which you have demonstrated in your fight) will beat shame any day.
You totally rock, HeartsAFire.

Good for you and your husband! Yes, it's a shame how insensitive some people can be when you tell them you no longer drink. But you made it through a difficult test-Congrats!!
Enjoy the rest of your vacation. :
