My Story
Your post caught my eye because I'm also 37 and it's definitely a good time to stop. it's been a very intense but incredible sober year and I've made it through by putting one foot in front of the other, learning to identify and manage triggers, and most importantly no drinking, no matter what happens! Oh ya my brothers name is Drew also. Welcome!

Im new to this too, only on day 4 after a solid 12 years of drinking. Am also considered functional... have a successful job - even citizen of the year last year... drink quietly alone nightly until I have no memory and pass out. I've tried to quit too many times to count. Supporting each
other is the way through - I have to admit, I really genuinely hate the thought that I might never be able to drink again. But I'm ready to have my life back. Welcome - really happy you're here and taking control of your life

Welcome Drew! I totally get the introvert alcoholic thing - I spent many nights home alone drinking and many mornings sneaking out the empties. This is a great place to find support! Keep us updated, and hang in there - you can beat this!
