Books?

I know there is a post out here somewhere about a list of books about sobriety, etc. Where is it at? I went to the bookstore and aimlessly looked around, not knowing what to buy, but wanted something on recovery and couldn't find anything.

Sorry to post in the Newcomers thread about this, but I know everyone reads these threads.

Thanks!

there's a book called Alcoholics Anonymous that is well worth a read or five. It's a bit of an older tome.... and uses some language and concepts that will seem a bit archaic...

but it's one of the best sources of insight and information to the alcoholic condition you'll find.

And it's free. I highly recommend it.

I have that one FreeOwl, thanks. I read it over and over.

I see the Books on Recovery are a Sticky posted on the top of the Newcomers to Recovery page. Missed that.

Thanks. For forum moderators, you can delete this post since it is taking up room for nothing. I found the link.

Cecilia, I'm not trying to be smart...just direct..

I read it over and over.

It's not working, is it?

Try something new:
The Slight Edge.

Think and grow rich

Lots of people say as a consequence of the principles in these books they have 'indirectly' overcome a drinking problem.

I'm reading the Slight Edge and I can see why.

I'm not an AAer but every time I've read the Big Book I've gotten something more from it.

The same applies to Allen Carr's book, the Bible, the Venerable Bede, Shakespeare and Winnie The Pooh.

Go figure

I enjoyed Drinking: A Love Story, by Caroline Knapp.
A woman. A wino.

I've also read several mom related ones.

That's you. I was specifically referring to Cecilia's case: She reads the big book over and over...yet consistently gets a nosebleed at 6-8 days. That's a fact. Logical conclusion is that the big book is not working for her.

I know your just trying to smooth over any potential debate. I'm simply looking at the reality of it.

Furthermore I find it hard to believe Winnie the Pooh gave you any specific, concrete tools to change your life and become more productive and successful. Perhaps you were just being facetious.

Interested in your journey.

Everybody loves Raymond? After reading that did you decide to become Alpha?

It should be retitled "Everything a man should not be".

Raymond: neutered house pet.

There are many life lessons in Pooh for us Piglets, Eeyores and Christopher Robins

Check out a book called the Tao of Pooh.

I read the BB several times, and still could not get past 3 days.

Finally I did make it...the book hadn't changed but I, and the way I read it, had

New sig:

'oh bother said Pooh, as he buried Piglet's mangled corpse'
