Six Months for Me Today
Six Months for Me Today
There aren't words to describe how grateful I am to be sober for six months today.
I awoke on February 13th of this year in a detox unit here in Pennsylvania. My liver was nearly in a state of cirrhosis, I was a heavy smoker, and hadn't exercised in nearly 5 years. During my detox period, my blood pressure reached 210/170 and I was more scared than I have ever been in my entire life.
Today, six months of sobriety later, my liver levels have returned to normal, I am nicotine-free, and I am working out 4-5 days per week. My doctor actually called me HEALTHY. Unreal!
I am insanely lucky to have the most amazing husband and son on the planet, and I will never, ever forget my 20+ years of alcohol abuse.
Every day is a gift, and I'll never take that gift for granted again.

Congratulations on six months!
I keep my twenty three years of alcoholic drinking fresh in my mind, too. Never want to forget it lest I think I can get away with just having a few.
Coming here and reading posts like yours, and all the newcomers who still suffer, keep me sober.
You're a miracle in the making, and best to you.
