Congrats! I can't tell you how awesome that is. You kicked booze just a few years after I started drinking! I wish I'd have quit with you back then!

Thanks for the inspiration and all the support you've given SR over the years.

Sharon, you seem like such a lovely, unique and caring person.

Thank you so much for all you share here. I hope you enjoyed your anniversary and I'm so happy you left the sadness and pain behind.

Congratulations.xx

I was sitting outside a few minutes ago
reflecting on the news we heard yesterday
of the passing of Robin Williams. Then
thinking about all the nice comments you
guys sent me as I celebrated 24 yrs.
sobriety.

As much as I appreciate all the kindness
and support Ive received yesterday, I am
sadden and angry at how addiction and
mental illness continues to take fine,
wonderful folks from all walks of life away
from us.

24 yrs sober without a drink of alcohol
is a celebration but it also keeps me
vigilent in my recovery. I can never take
for granted that with yrs. of not drinking
I can return to a drink successfully.

In order to remain successful in my
recovery I have to continue to practice
total abstinence from drinking. There
can never be a doubt in my mine that
one sip, one swig, one nip, one taste,
I can drink like normal folks.

I tried so many times before to control
my drinking to only return to the insanity
of it.

There will always be an evil force out there
tempting to drink for whatever reason, trying
to pull me in and I will have to continue using
my program of recovery to ward it off.

There is a wonderful feeling of celebrating
milestones in recovery for all alcohols or
addicts but we also have to remain humble,
grounded, compassionate, forgiving, honest,
in all areas of our life to remain successful
in our recovery lives.

I will not take my recovery for granted
and be grateful that I am alive, healthy
and happy today.

Thanks SR for your continued support,
caring, understanding, and sharing your
own experiences, strengths and hopes
with me and other to achieve successful
sobriety.
