My Third Night

Hi everyone, I slipped up a couple nights ago. Dealing with some personal issues with the family. I won't bore with the details, but it's no good.

I have had some really good attempts at sobriety, and no one can take that away. I just need to re group and try to find a way to reliably post on SR.

I hope everyone is doing good!

You found your way back Justin - that's what counts. Let's give it another go.

I'm glad you're trying again.

It took me almost two years after I joined here until I finally got sober for good. I hope it doesn't take you that long.

Glad you posted. If possible for you, staying away from family drama might be good in early recovery.

Welcome back Justin

Have you thought about doing something differently?

If personal issues are a problem, maybe finding other healthier solutions to dealing with those could be a key here?

I think I'm going to stop communicating with them for a few months. How many times can you slowly kill yourself (literally with alcoholism) before you have to do something drastic?

I'm not around it anymore, I don't go places where people are drinking, and I quit things that make me crave.

Great job at catching yourself after the slip. I like what you say about your previous attempts not being a waste. If it wasnt for my previous attempts I would never know what sobriety was like and wouldn't be as serious as I am this time. Serious about a better life!

Welcome back Justin. If you think posting here on a regular basis would be of benefit, why not actually block off specific times of the day to do it? Set tangible goals of a certain amount of time and write it down to track and keep yourself accountable. You've suggested that it would help in the past too, make a pact with yourself and do it.this could be your last day 3 ever.
