Drove 5 hrs in the desert w/my kids & no AC! Ice cold beer
Yep, I'm dumb enough to drive out to our River house on the hottest day off the year, during rush hour, with my kids, no AC, & no husband...on my day 3! I walk into our vacation house sweaty & dusty, and my brother hands me a drippy, straight from the ice chest Coors Light, my absolute favorite river drink... "I'm good, I just need water" he laughs and says, "Sis, your not good until your goooood" I laugh it off and we walks away chastising me for being dumb enough to drive out here with no AC. I toss it back in the ice chest, grab a water & jumped in the shower. I didn't even want it! I was praying all the way out that God would go before me & give me strength. I reminded myself that if I ever felt the urge I would remember how desperate, anxious, sick & helpless I felt on Monday morning when I decided to stop. No drink is worth ever feeling that way again! I wont lie, around 2:00am when I heard my mom & dad arrive with their two giant, barking dogs, arguing over the way my brother took the cover off the boat, my first instinct was to go guzzle a case...but I just rolled my eyes & went back to sleep. This will be a long, but fun weekend. One big house, all my adult siblings, all of our 9 kids, (5 being teenagers) and my parents & by some weird twist of fate, none of the spouses could make it. I feel like this could be a Survivor show about siblings...my oldest brother has been sober a year, I'm on day 4, my other two & my parents drink like it's a sport, throw in desert heat, a river & a bunch of kids..... This is a show I'd watch! Thanks for listening, please pray for me!
