Newcomer Introduction
Hey everyone, I'm from the UK & have a big problem with binge drinking. I can't stop once I pass my tipping point & end up violent, crazy & hurting the people I love most. I have set today as my starting point for a sober life & am going to my first AA meeting tomorrow. Gotta start somewhere, right? After ending up passed out on a back street, vomiting, breaking my wrist & attacking my ex partner last night, I realise this cannot go on. I have two amazing, beautiful kids at home & I NEVER want them to see me like that again..... I am so ashamed I just want to curl up & cry today thanks for reading
Welcome to the forum, OnTheWagon1. Blackouts, and the regrettable actions that occurred therein, were a major part of my decision to stop drinking as well. I know how you are feeling the day after. Write down your thoughts and feelings (this post is a good start) so that you don't let your motivation to become sober slip your mind.
Best of luck.
Best of luck.

Welcome to SR!
You will find a lot of useful support here. It's normal to feel emotional in the first few days/weeks. Good news is that by starting today and not waiting for something worst to happen, you can start building a healthy lifestyle with your children.

Welcome! Taking that first step towards an AA meeting takes huge courage. If you don't mind shoot us a post after and let us know how it went and if you have any questions - we're happy to help.
Welcome to the form Friend,
Look at your mishap as your gift of desperation and realize it does not ever have to happen again…. NEVER!!!
After year of being sober for years I went back out…….stop doing what I was taught. I just started going to AA again. AA will welcome you with open arms…reach out and ask for help, you will receive it. Let us know how your first meeting goes.

Welcome Onthewagon!
Many of us have been where you are and have made the decision to change! To never drink again.
Best of luck, you will find great support here. The SR family has been a lifeline for me and can be for you as well.

Hi On the wagon.
Best of luck with the AA meeting.
I'm sure you will find it very welcoming
I have being going to AA for some time and my compulsion from alcohol lifted from me. I tried stopping on my own but was unsuccessful. It's a great freedom to not have to drink. Best of luck on your journey.

Hi everyone, well I made it to my first meeting & WOW!!! It went great! Even went out for a coffee with the fellowship afterwards. What a FANTASTIC group of people. I am ready to take this on & be sober. And can finally say, I AM an alcoholic. Thank you for your kind & supportive posts I don't think I would have gone if I hadn't found this site :-D
