Need to Quit Drinking

Hi,

I had an awful experience over the weekend; getting a DUI. I tend to binge drink and nothing ever comes of it and thus I need a support system to help me keep my addictions in check.

Thanks

Welcome to SR tcloud. You found a good place to talk things over - we all understand.

I've been through the DUI nightmare too. Twice. I was a slow learner - kept insisting I could control the amounts I drank, but obviously I can't. For me it was safer to stop all together. Glad you are here for support & encouragement.

welcome tcloud, DUI is an eye opener.

By keeping it in check do you mean quitting for good? That's what I would recommend.

Staying sober is the only real way to keep it in check.

Welcome aboard. I can relate. Binge drinking ruined my life, the DWI I got over a decade ago was just the beginning. You're doing the right thing trying to get things in order now. It only gets worse if you keep at it (as I sadly found out)...

Binge drinker

I am a binge drinker- used to be that I knew when to stop- recently I want abliteration!!! Can go 7, 5 4 days and then it all goes to pot.. And do you know what I tell myself.. I am not alcoholic it is just that I like alcohol - so I embrace it as I feel depressed/ anxious most of the time so why not embrace who I Am and therefore no guilt!!!!!!!! GUILT for me is such a problem, if I did not feel it I would carry on... No guilt, no problem.... Is guilt a good thing?

Thanks
V

I plan on starting to attend AA
Try hypnosis
keep a log and journal

The real test will be during social settings.
