I will be 8 months sober on July 1st. Most of you know about the relationship between myself and my mom. We are going on holiday tomorrow, just the two of us. Will I survive the next 12 days? I can't back out now.

When I get back, my dad is flying out. My Grandmother will be going to Spain with my aunts and I will be house sitting for her. I will enjoy the freedom like a dog whose owner left the gate open!!

I will try and check in here every day. If not, see you all when I get back!

Day 1 over with no major upsets.

One thing happened though: my mom and I were sitting in a restaurant and she turned to me and said "would you mind if I had a glass of wine?" I said "no, not at all". Secretly, I was thrilled. My parents don't drink now, maybe because of me, but I also have a couple of aunts who do drink a lot.

I feel like my parents are starting to treat me like a human being again and it feels really good!
