Day 1 of Detox ..help
Hi all
Just need some advice. I am doing an alcohol detox myself (I have previously went to two inpatient detoxes).
My shakes are pretty bad...I took a 300mg of Gabapentin about an hour ago. I also took a .5mg of Lorazapam in the morning which only helps temporarily. No cravings really.
I am also thinking that taking a 50mg of Toporol (BP) medicine would help at night?
Due to previous detoxes I am more aware of what could happen but just cant afford to go away somewhere for 5 days....

Welcome to the Forum Katie!! 
Have you spoken to a Dr about taking these medications? withdrawals can be a serious business, so you need to do things safely, the problem with online advice is there are soo many variables that are different depending on the person.
You'll find loads of support though here on SR, great to have you onboard!!

We unfortunately are not qualified doctors.
Can you see one? By all mean I don't want to scare you but like purple knight said detox can be dangerous.
Please stay safe and see a doctor if things get weird

I second what Purpleknight & Patman said - maybe you can speak to your doctor about your concerns. We want you to be safe. Please keep talking to us and do some reading here - it will help distract you and give you support.
