Just admitted I needed help

Gonna need support along the way. With my job I feel pretty ashamed.

Welcome, willhunting.

Many of us have felt shame; often it was what brought us to this site. You will find support and understanding here. You CAN get past the shame and move forward.

Again, welcome.

I hope so. Right now I'm very anxious. Having trouble sleeping. I was afraid my boss could use it against me.

I told my boss and she was most supportive.

Nothing to be shamed about. She had someone in her family with and Addiction so she understood!

My boss said the same thing and shook my hand. Told me I had his support. Hope he's being honest. It would be a crappy thing to do to me.

Congratulations on getting this sorted. Worrying about your boss right now seems like a distraction that might not help too much - he said he supports you, shook your hand: it's settled. Turn that focus towards getting yourself sober. What's the plan? Welcome aboard.

I start counseling tomorrow. It is a distraction about my boss. He's not trustworthy but I had to let him know. It felt good to be honest.

Hey Will, welcome. You've taken the first step of admitting to yourself, to your boss and to us here at SR that you have a problem... that's HUGE. Get ready for a rollercoaster, but we'll be here every step of the way if you want us to be. Have you considered AA? I avoided it like the plague for a long time but when I finally went, I was greeted with open arms, open hearts and a room full of love and understanding. I highly recommend it. Good luck mate, I'm rootin' for ya buddy.

Thanks Flu!! Appreciate it. Really had no reason to tell the boss but thought I should let him know. My last stretch of sobriety was 7 months. I know I can do it.
