Day One
Never want to drink again. I'm done. I'm tired of being tired and wasting my life away because of booze. Been a closet drinker for years and decided to tell my significant other what my plan is. I know I need help and this was step one. Thanks for listening.
What is the next step towards recovery?
Thanks again

QuitinMsp - Welcome to a great place for support as you begin this journey. I felt so much better when I finally opened up about it. I was tired of the lies, and always watching my back. It's wonderful to be free.

Hi QuitInMsp... that's a big step to take, congratulations on that. It's very hard to have to say to someone, so, I think I have a problem.... but I think being able to talk about it really helps, especially when you are working on trying to help yourself.
The next step for recovery, I've seen a lot of words of advice on this forum... but I think the best thing I've seen is to focus on not drinking today. There's a lot of big "mights" out there - you might need to see a doctor, you might drink again and feel like you lost the fight, etc... but regardless of what happens, just keep your focus on not drinking today. There's a lot of us out here doing the same thing.

Hi and welcome QuitinMsp
If you've been drinking heavily for a while it's a good idea to see a Dr, just to be safe.
And read and post here as much as you like - use every support you can think of to stay sober

Welcome to the family.
Your next step might be to decide how you're going to stay sober. There are a lot of ways to stay sober. There are programs like AA, LifeRing, Smart, Women for Sobriety. It doesn't matter how you get sober, just give it all your effort.
I'm glad you found us and joined the family.

Been a long day but feeling better. I'm sure not looking forward to the insomnia I know is coming. Tons of support from the better half which helped. Read through a bunch of threads and don't feel so alone in this. Must've had a gallon of water today. One day down.
