Hey everyone,
Well, I have decided to stop drinking and am looking for some sort of support as I step off onto the path less traveled. I drank about a bottle of wine a day, which is "cutting back" for me. Every morning I look into the mirror and see a person I once knew fading away with dark circles and bloat, not only in the face but around my belly as well. Somehow I have managed to continue to exercise (I run about 10-15 miles a week), but I can see the alcohol taking it's toll on my appearance. I also am beginning to sleep very poorly. I feel exhausted every morning. On the nights that I do not drink, I feel so much better and so well rested. Anyway, enough of an intro. I hope you all are doing well on your journey of sobriety and I hope I can join you in that success. Wish me luck!

Welcome Smaster! I hope that you are able to take SR and use it to your sobriety advantage. It is a great place to post when you need it or just read to learn about the journey ahead.
Keep sticking around and congratulations on your decision toward the good life.

Welcome to SR. I was a wine drinker. Every night. I don't miss waking up feeling exhausted. What I needed to quit was a plan of action. You can pick up a lot of good tips on here to make your own plan.

Wow! Me too! the six to nine bottles of wine per week were starting to show in drastic ways. Besides everything you said, my chin was turning purple! Gross! It didn't stop me though. I am on day 34 and my face is just starting to improve, the gross purple has turned to only a slightly less gross dark pink, but I can see that it's improving! I lost a lot of vanity (which I previously had) and am enjoying shopping for all those fun products again! I was shocked to see my face in a mirror and my kids would look at old pictures of me and say mom you were so pretty! Ugh! Hang in there.
Welcome Smaster.
I had the 'fortunate' experience of going to a rehab. After the third week when my wife was allowed to visit for 2 hours she told me, "You look different." I mean she was really amazed. She just sat there staring at me for 15 minutes. When I left I saw the before and after me. WOW!
Stay the coarse! You're gonna like yourself a whole lot better.
