I have to get better

I'm trying a lot these days, and my girlfriend is helping me. I drink too much, and argue. I'm tired of it. If I can get some help on here, I'd be so thankful.

Thank you, Tamerua. I tried before and was ok. But I seem to always get back into it. I'm tired of being sorry to others.

Welcome back! It's good that you have support from your gf. How can we help? What's the plan?

The problem is, I get better, then as soon as I'm on my own, I'll start drinking again. I don't know what the plan is. I'm really not sure.

Sounds like you need a solid plan to keep you sober. Are you open to AA meetings, or another program of recovery? What about counseling? There are lots of ways to stay sober but all of them take effort on your part.

Sounds like isolation is not good...I sink in isolation myself...I become a different person almost.if I can't connect with people I come here immediately for support. I am just now getting my plan together .... Its been a lot of trial and error..lol!

For me Romando, there is no cure. I know that if I chose to "be on my own" without outside help, I'd have no chance. Face to face meetings (whether 12 step programs or professional therapy) really does help and taking suggestions as if my life depended on those suggestions (because it really does) saved me and continues to save me. It does take work but you are worth it.

If there is no AA group near you, then start one, why not?

Apparently I can't post a link here because I don't have enough post counts but you can contact the GSO (General Service Office of AA, in NYC) to get more info on starting a group.

Welcome back Romando

I think supports very important. If there is not much in the way of AA or other groups wherever it is you are, I'd use SR...a lot.

I'm glad to see you back Romando. I was tired of my behavior too. It wasn't fun anymore, just a terrible and destructive habit. I hope you'll keep posting here - we want to help.
