New from Vegas
Hi there,
I am new to the site and wanted to just say hello and reach out for support. I haven't had a drink since Saturday and honestly it is harder than I thought it would be. Looking forward to finding support here.

Welcome lauralye! Congratulations on your sober time - we know how hard it is in the early days. It will get easier, we promise.
You'll find a lot of encouragement and support here - SR saved me from destroying my life. You're among those who understand and want to help. You can do it.

Welcome! There's also our 24 hour club sign up thread in Daily Support forum. You just post there once a day pledging to be sober for another 24 hours.

As others have mentioned, that feeling will pass after a while. I found in the beginning I vegged out on trashy tv, read more and did little things around the house, played the word games on SR. It's been over 4 months and I no longer feel that evening restlessness. In fact, I appreciate the clarity and calm. Welcome!!
I don't need that anymore but it helped me over the hump, and calorie-wise was no worse than wine.

I appreciate the suggestions of things to try. It's funny, I actually have a lot I could be doing (work, housework) and things I used to love to do (read, paint, write)- but I am just sort of wandering or I go to bed super early. I wonder why I want to disconnect so much instead. It's comforting to know this restlessness will pass. I don't want to be a high functioning alcoholic anymore. I want to be a holistically functioning person! Thanks everyone for the welcome!
Hi Lauralye & Welcome!
It's hard to quit, but you can do it -- just remember that you don't have to drink. All you have to do is get through the day. And don't expect too much from yourself too quick -- you need time to heal, that's why they call it recovery

welcome!
I just got back from nine sober days in Vegas, where I celebrated my 60-days mark since deciding after a couple years of experimenting with both sobriety and controlled drinking that sobriety was the way to go for me.
You've found a good place!
