Hello

It's been a long time since I admitted I have a problem not just with alcohol but with other addictions as well. This steamed from childhood abuse and instead of dealing with it I covered it up. most days would look like this
and I didn't know what to do. Still don't. Now that I've hit rock bottom there's no place to go but up.

Hello and welcome.

yup, up is good. I know where you're coming from. I drank to self medicate an underlying mental illness. And it worked. Until I became a full blown alcoholic.
Hopefully you can quit drinking.
You've made a big step by admitting you may have a problem. Now it's time for action.
There are recovery programs that help many. Coming here helps me a lot, and I hope it helps you, too.
Keep on reading and posting. It's great to have you here.

Thanks Ghostlight1, It's good to look around here and see I'm not alone. They say all you can take is one step at a time right?

My whole life I was so depressed and it was because of the abuse (physical, mental, emotional) I received from my mother. growing up. When I found alcohol it was wonderous. I had found a release from the constant stress I was under from my parents and then from myself because my self esteem was nonexistent. I know how you feel. I thought I had hit bottom on several occasions but low and behold I went even further down. I am sober for me now and no one else. Please hang in there and keep posting to SR.

Thanks, before it was alcohol it was food glorious food. Mainly because food didn't condemn you just comforted you when you needed it the most.

I too grew up with similar abuse and turned to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain and nightmares of life. I am no longer in that part of my life and it is time to stop the insanity and start living a normal life. We deserve to have better lives and sobriety is the stepping stone to making a change toward the freedom from our past.

Welcome and enjoy coming up from the bottom! You will like it the further up you go.
