It sounds like you're having a hard time with the issue of friendship and how your sobriety affects your relationships. You mentioned your friends were happy to see you "back". I went through that early on too-they were happy to see me back because they didn't have to feel uncomfortable drinking in front of me. I agree, things can get annoying and boring when you're sober and they're drunk, but maybe you can just see them in small doses and still stay sober. If you don't like what you turn into after you've had too many, and you felt better the 3 weeks you were sober that tells you something.

I think it's good you're exploring all of this here. You won't get much support for drinking "once in awhile" because most of us have been down that path and didn't have good results. Probably if we could drink once in awhile we wouldn't have ever even found SR. People are concerned that if you can't control it and don't stop at only a couple, you could have serious consequences.
