Off to see the Doctor...
I'm not to worried about what he's going to say about my throat. It is what it is. Made my bed over the last half century.
What I'm am worried about is that I won't tell him the whole truth. He's not only my Doc but he is a friend. And now I got to say, "Hey Doc, I been lying to you all these years". I'm afraid I won't be able to come clean with him. :-( I did write it all down. Hope I can at least hand the note to him if I can't man up.

When you become honest, you will emmediately
feel the weight of the world lifted off your shoulders.
Once he is aware of ur situation, and then he may
already know and just waiting for you to be honest
with him, he will be able to help you begin getting
your body healthy again.
For me, I make sure my doctor is aware of
my addiction and recovery. That my recovery
is extremely important to me and to not
administer anything narcotic nor habit forming
because I don't want anything to interfere with
my recovery.
Physicians are there for a reason. To help
us with medical problems. They will give
meds as they see fit, unless they are made
aware that narcotics are harmful to my
recovery. I don't want them. Period.
Harmful narcotics screw up our body
and minds and make everything go
haywire, unbalanced.
Work closely, comfortably confiding
with ur doctor and he will take care
of you medically, then use ur recovery
program to learn to live life happily,
honestly and healthy for yrs. to come.

It's in your best interests to be totally honest. Dr can't help if he only knows part of the story.
I understand the embarrassment but Drs are professionals apart from being friends.
IMO, alcoholism is not a weakness or a moral failing - and you're taking steps to fix things,. That's nothing to be ashamed about

Spill your guts, you will feel SO much better after you do. I was in the ER once and at the GP twice and each time they treated my drinking concerns compassionately and thoughtfully just as they would if I had any other health issue. There is absolutely nothing to be afraid of.

A lot of smart, experienced, folks here. Things went as ya'll predicted. I'm glad I wrote things down cause I might have caved. Once I handed the Doc the note I spilled all the beans. The Doc handled things just like you would expect Dr. Marcus Welby to. (Ask your grand parents who that was ).
Good news is I'm gonna live to fight another day. Thanks for the support.
