Battle of the night day 11

I am eleven days sober, tomorrow will be day twelve and will be the longest I have been sober in years. My days are fine, very productive with work and exercise. But I find my nights are full of depression and lack of sleep regardless of how much exercise I do.But shall keep on it though. But any good advice for getting through this stage?

Hi Josseh - welcome

I think insomnia is pretty common and depression is often involved too. At least you joining SR gives you something to do at night

11 days is still pretty early - I hope you'll see some improvement this week

To get thru the first few weeks takes sheer determination. You must stay sober no matter how bad you might feel. You will start to feel better, and sleep better after the first few weeks or so. At least, that's how long it took my sleep patterns to sort themselves out.

I've had some trouble sleeping too and my sober time is close to yours (13 days). I tend to do an extra vigorous workout session right before I go to bed, so that my body has no choice but to sleep because i'm exhausted.

It seems to help a bit

Good luck x

I can identify! However, my nights were a time of relief because I made it through one more day sober.

Hi josseh,

I'm also on day11 - my longest sober time in years too! I take my phone to bed and read these forums. When I feel my eyes getting heavy I search for an inspirational post for my final read so I can end my day on a positive note.

Before I know it my morning alarm is screaming at me - it's clearly jealous of the relationship I have with my bed

Stick in with it - apparently, good things come to those who persevere

Good luck sober twin

Cheers for the support guys . I promised my self at least 100 days, I find my days are way more productive with my work, and achieve a lot more in the day than if I was hungover.

Josseh,

Every day is a blessing and every sober day is full of them.
