starting again

Hello,

I have never used a site like this before, desperate to get sober again, back at AA since yesterday, but today is my first day sober. Scared, sad, and just need a bit of support. I am in Cork Ireland.

Thank you so much for kind words...am so tired of feeling sick every single day and just want to be here one hundred percent for my 16 year old son...single mum. Head is all over the place. Have librium to help with detox, been to too many treatment centres and they only ever work in the short term, so this time I am going to try the AA way and a little bit of outside help, counselling. It's nice to have encouragement, thank you again x

Thank you least....it is almost 7pm here, going to a meeting at 8.30pm...my first sober night in a year and a half, I had three months previous to that...I think the librium must be helping...not as shaky tonight as I had expected....but I know it will be hard not stopping to buy drink later...my stomach is sick but that's normal for me with all the drinking and not eating...feel determined though, in spite of the physical sickness, I know drinking tonight won't make anything easier, just prolong the pain.

Hello all,

On my 4th sober day today, can't believe it! Librium is helping, am finding the meetings hard, having been in and out for almost 20 years....getting back is harder I feel than going for the first time.... Hope everyone is well, and thank you all so much for your encouraging words on my very first day xxx

Welcome to SR! It's a great place, full of people who would never judge you, and in fact have been going through the same things.
