Need help , not really computer savvy!
Keep writing, Lisa. Writing is thinking, and you are getting some good thoughts out here. With the whole. "let go. . ." idea--I remember reading a book, "The Path With Heart" by Jack Kornfield. He has a chapter about stopping "the war" in our minds. Kornfield is more of Buddhist. It might be interesting to check out. For me, once I "let go" of some of the battles/wars in my mind I was able to stop hyper-manage, control, manipulate all the minute details of my life--and here came the stress, anxiety, and the drinking. This seems to me to be very similiar to "let go, let God." I belive that all religions are seeking the same fundamental truths, and it can be fun and interesting to see the same messages, the same teachings, transcending various theologies. Good to have you here, keep writing.
It's a process Lisa, not an event - at least it was for me - it takes time to learn to think and react in different ways.
The link FG posted is pretty darn good
As for faith (secularists look away now) I don't know how you grow faith - it just happened for me.
I went from being an agnostic to back to being a Christian.
I felt God in my life - it's easy to have faith when you feel His presence.
I didn't for a lot of years tho. I read the Bible but all I was getting was the words not the inspiration.
I was getting in my own way - too involved and caught up with what I wanted rather than what I needed.
As you're a Christian, maybe prayers for clarity and guidance will help?
