I'm back. Tomorrow is my new Day 1. Here is my plan.
I'm back. Tomorrow is my new Day 1. Here is my plan.
Hi all, I haven't been around in a long while. I had about 3.5 months sober but relapsed about 9 months ago.
My life has finally gone back to the "unmanageable" stage yet again, and I've accepted that I truly am an alcoholic, and if I have 1 sip of alcohol it will lead to me drinking every night. I can never drink casually/socially again.
So I reached out to a former classmate who is a fitness instructor and body builder and more importantly, he's a recovering alcoholic.
I asked him to be an accountability partner. He's going to be checking in with me daily and working with me on nutrition and fitness.
This is only the 2nd time I've ever attempted quitting alcohol, but 12-18 beers per day just isn't sustainable. I'm a closet alcoholic (NO ONE knows cuz I drink alone) but this just isn't sustainable. My work/family know there is something wrong but don't know what it is. I'm at a breaking point. This has to stop permanently.
Anyways, I'm hoping to get some online support from you guys as well. Thanks!

Hey TrackDay! Your amount of alcohol consumed was exactly the same as me. You will be amazed how fit you get after you quit. The energy you will have will also make your goals in fitness easier to obtain. I'm new as well, but this is an awesome place for support! I'm guessing you're younger in age as well, so am I (30). Stick around it's worth it.

Hey Trackday, welcome back. Some of us, like myself, needed to fall in order to succeed. I'm glad to see that you are aware of the unmanageable life that alcohol brings. For a long time I justified the chaos which made it difficult to reach out for help.
On a side note, I think you should probably delete the link to the picture. I mean this in the best way, but you pretty much are revealing someone's anonymity, which is your friend. I'm just putting myself in his position, and if someone were to put my picture up after stating that i'm an alcoholic, I'd be pretty pissed off. I hope you know what I mean.

hey TrackDay, I'm back to day one as well and also a closet alco. Nobody, I mean NOBODY knows the pain I'm in (except some of the people on here) and I've been secretly going to AA and having little, but at least some success. Well tomorrow I'm back on day 1 again and I'm terrified. I feel like I can't do this and the day is approaching when I'll have to tell my husband about it if I don't get a handle on it soon. I worry if I tell him, he'll spread it all over town and tell his family and the shame will be just too much for me. Anyway, enough about me, welcome back and good luck for day 1 tomorrow.
