Hey I was just reading the newcomers and look what I found. Thanks Nomis and everyone else. I really appreciate it. 1 year. Actually went pretty fast now looking back on it.

You know Nomis I think I had posted about this on our November thread a while back, but I think for my situation and perspective, one of my biggest hurdles was probably thinking I wasn't bad enough. No DUI, Jail, etc. What I have learned in the last year reading here is that those things do not end up being why we stop. We stop because something inside tells us we are done. All the DUIs and embarrassing moments in the world may not be enough for us to decide we are done. I have accepted that I can't control my drinking and that is enough, without trying to measure the badness of my drinking against anyone else's standard. So, I'm really happy to be done.

Someone wrote here that 'moving forward is awesome'. Sorry I don't remember who, but I thought that was perfect. Not that life is perfect without booze, but moving forward, into life and with life, is awesome. For better or worse, one day at a time.

Thanks again.
