I think I still need to go to AA even if I didn't like the program. Does anyone else go to AA even though they don't like the message?

to SR from a fellow Buckeye! There are lots of us here who are sober without AA. Some used other programs, some see a counselor (like me), some just use SR. It's not the method you use, it's your willingness to do whatever it takes to stay sober.

In my early recovery I'd walk my dogs when I was bored or craving a drink. It worked!

I found to move forward I needed more support, and I needed to make more changes in my life to help me stay sober.

Coming here is a great start on both scores I think

Your higher power can be anything, Jade... Make the rooms of AA your higher power if need be.. Just realizing there is something bigger than yourself. I look it as this: these rooms have helped millions of people with their disease ... That's big..that's way bigger than me..
