Hi! From desperate newcomer
Hi There!
I am a desperate mum and wife trying to quit drinking. I stumbled upon this sight today, and am hoping to chat with others who may be experiencing some of my pain. I am willing to pray for you while you pray for me!
Thank you

Welcome! I am on day 6 here and feeling fantastic and positive and much more healthy! You can do this. Keep busy, that is my advice and take it one day at a time. When you get the urge, do something else. I am playing a lot of patience with playing cards and clearing out my house etc. Good luck!
Bunion there is plenty of hope and good times ahead of you! I was in the same boat and now I am happy and sober and determined to never go back. You can too, even if you think it's too hard now.

Today
Today is my first chance to drink in 5 days, because my husband finally went to work. He took off a few days because he was so concerned about me. I have had a prescription of Campral in my cabinet for months and have tried it a couple of times, never being consistent. I have made the commitment to take the proper dosage every day until the bottle is empty. I have had a severe headache for the last 5 days. I wasn't sure if it was withdrawals, or side effect from the Campral. Today is the first day I do not have a headache. I don't feel cranky, but I still am fighting the desire to drink. I am not working, but I still have a lot to do around here. I have a business idea I want to work on, plus just taking care of my busy family. I don't think I am ready to go back to a normal job yet. If any of you have had experience with the drug Campral, I would love to here it. So far, it is helping with the cravings. I have been doing a lot of reading, the Bible mostly; it has always been my favorite book. Time for me to go back to it. I still feel guilty and miserable, but God still shows me His mercies every day. I am just blabbering. Thank you for letting me share.

Welcome aboard and best wishes on your road to recovery. I didn't rely on drugs to get rid of the cravings, preferring to do it the natural way. I found that sugary foods helped alot as well as peanuts, cucumbers or just a tasty filling meal helped. Plus I talked to God alot (and still do).
Welcome!
Please know that feeling shame and guilt is very normal as we try to stop drinking. It's often very hard to come to terms with the person we have become and to accept that we have hurt those we love.
Be proud of yourself for getting through these early days and for your commitment to stopping drinking.
