I've been taking baths with Epsom Salts and Peroxide. It has been a lifesaver detox bath for me...
I did not have any skin irritants when I did this though, so I might not recommend the Peroxide if your skin is already agitated.
The Epsom Salts alone are comforting though...maybe try Epsom Salt baths with Baking Soda... That has worked for me too.

Well, hell has frozen over, because I just went to a doctor. Despite the reports I am reading increasingly of post-alcoholic rash, she tends to think mine may be a viral infection that she has seen in other patients lately. There are lumps in my throat and I have swollen glands also. Going to get bloodwork done tomorrow, so we shall see if there may be anything to tie in the rash with the cessation of drinking. It seems too common to be a coincidence.

Crazy, TKS!! I am glad you went to the DR!!
I am interested to hear the final outcome! I too had the horrible itches the first week after quitting but all my liver enzymes were good. No one ever mentioned a viral infection.
So, since its viral, do they just want it to run it's course?

I don't know what they plan to do. But this physician seems legitimately concerned with doing her job (its the first time I have been to the place (compared to other centres I have attended, where they simply push you to a specialist, and receive kickbacks on the side. Its really quite corrupt, so Im actually glad i found a half-decent doctor that is taking on new patients.
I explained my alcoholism, and she was quite shocked that I got through the first days and weeks - and quite kindly suggested some of the treatment centres around the district also. As for the rash, well her thoughts were that to find the cause may require complex dermatologist's consultations, so while I would like to know, I may never find out. For now, I have been given a steroidal cream, and I don't know what they plan to do about the other infection symptoms (I'm not really so in touch with my body, so I'm not feeling anything uncomfortable)
Sorry to hijack your thread Silvy, but if there's any drinking related damage detected, I'll let you all know, as it may or may not be related to the skin complaint. If you find out the same, and anyone else, we'll see if there's a trend here.
I'm still not able to conclude as to how there could be any 'toxins' in the system after Silvy's 30 days.

It could be stress related. When you quit drinking it can put your body and your mind in a stressful state. Stress is also known to lower the immune system which could increase the chance for other physical conditions to pop up early in recovery. As you become more confident in your sobriety, stress levels should come down which may alleviate some of the other physical conditions that you are experiencing.
Having said that I am not a doctor, so if in doubt check it out.
