I would like support - I'm about to start 'S' day
Hi AG, I agree with others who have suggested you read as much as you can, keep posting on SR, and PLEASE seek some medical advice about stopping suddenly. It can be quite dangerous medically.
It also helps to have a plan, like what you'll do to fill the times when you're most tempted. Make sure you have lots of substitutes in the fridge, and don't let yourself get too hungry or stressed.
As for a future date for giving up....if you feel motivated to try it before the function then don't hold back. It's nowhere near as hard not to drink as you imagine, as long as your mind is made up.

Hi All, Well today is my first day of sobriety. 1st of September and first day of spring. I have advised all my friends and associates, removed all alcohol from the house, went to see the doctor to advise him of my stance and I started Campral today 6 tabs x day.
I must say it was a REAL struggle this morning as I had a particularly bad night last night (not of drinking) and I woke up not feeling well either physically, or emotionally. But, I'm actually doing ok. I'm not going to beat myself up with a stick but I am serious about this.
