Sunday morning sober
Often people ask if you can have fun when you're sober, if you'll ever be happy again, isn't sobriety just plain boring?
For me, Sunday morning used to mean sleeping in with a hangover, maybe worse than sleeping in. This morning, although we had friends over for a meal last night, I got up about 7am to do a few household chores, set some sourdough for baking, make Sunday breakfast and walk the dog.
Then I went for a bike ride, freewheeling down the hill to the beach, high on the euphoria of being alive on a perfect Sunday morning. This, my friends, is what sobriety offers us.
