Cravings

So it's day 9 without alcohol and just like clockwork my late afternoon craving is back. You know the craving. The one that usually puts you on autopilot to the grocery store or service station to pick up a six pack or a few bottles of wine. I don't know how many times I've taken that drive. I hate this feeling.

My witching hour was right after supper and I agree there is some point at which your mind seems to stop functioning. I would say "I found myself in the wine aisle" and realize that didn't make any sense at all.

How about going to the gym later afternoon or for a walk?

Change your routine. Do something to take your mind off it, to occupy yourself. The cravings do pass in time.

Yup. 8:30pm is the time for me. But what's the point? You'd just hate yourself after.

Play the tape through to how awful you'll feel tomorrow both physically and emotionally. Then get busy doing anything other than drinking.
