Sad story that is getting better
Hi,
Wow, I really like the vibe here. I need this. So, got my first DWI in January. Lost the marriage. Thankful to still have my job. Tried AA and I have to say that those are some giving people. In the end, I just couldn't deal with a large group of people all at once like that. It's not them, it's just how I am. What has helped me is a really good therapist. She's helped me to overcome a lot of fear and loathing. Thank you so much for providing a forum where an Alcoholic like me can talk about my illness. We are not freaks. The world is better when we are in it.

This place helped me get sober and stay that way. There is much wisdom here, but a lot of humor too.

Nice - Good to hear you're feeling positive about things. In my experience therapy helped, and while AA wasn't a match for me either, there are still some positives I take away. Welcome aboard, you'll find a lot of good stuff here.

AA isnt for everyone, and that is okay. You can find other methods that are as effective, or maybe more depending on you. Im in Minnesota too.
