What is the likelihood of severe/life threatening withdrawals?

I have been drinking 8-12 beers a night for about two months, this is just enough to get a decent buzz (I already seemed to have a high alcohol tolerance when I started drinking) and I wondered how likely actual withdrawals are. I never drink during the day if that makes any difference.
I just want to quit cold turkey if possible

Hi b729

The short answer is noone knows what the likelihood is.
Too many factors to consider.

I detoxed without apparent ill effect many times...then my last detox was very bad.

That's why I always recommend seeing a Dr....you just never know.

I am with Dee. I have detoxed several times, and other than feeling like crap for 4 days I had no long term effects. My last detox was in an ER and I am glad because I damn near killed myself.
