I have a feeling that the founders will also be there... in spirit. You are privileged to be able to attend in the place it all started. Please let us know how it goes!

Bill & Dr. Bob will always be there if we continue to carry the word as prescribed in the Big Book.

All the best.

I am getting ready to leave soon to meet my sponsor. It is a real big deal here. I don't live in Akron but I am real close and most of the meetings I go to are in Akron.

I heard it is amazing to go and to see it all. They basically look at like a huge family reunion of sorts. Someone said when the BB says that we are people that don't normally mix that nothing shows it more than Founders Day..lol

I will update tonight when I get back tonight and more tomorrow.

I was just at the biggest AA meeting I have ever seen and that is not even the big meeting. That is tomorrow night. They even had a person doing sign language.

To hear that many people saying the Serenity Prayer and The Lords Prayer was really moving. It was amazing. They had three old timers speak. All had over 30 years sobriety. We ran into one guy while we were waiting to walk over to the meeting. He had 51 years sobriety.

This is tomorrow..“Big Meeting” Saturday night. RAIN or SHINE, we will be in Akron University's InfoCision Stadium capacity 30,000

The amount of people on campus was just amazing and ALL kinds of people that were so friendly and smiling. There are tents and RV areas as well as on site housing.

I can't wait until tomorrow. I am going to be there all day long. From 10am to at 10pm, it will be a full day. I am helping with registration from 11-2. I am hoping to see the play, The Example, and then The History of the Big Book meeting.

I am thinking of going Sunday too. There is a motorcycle procession and graveside memorial tribute to Dr. Bob and Anne Smith.

I feel truly blessed to be able to go with my sponsor and my sponsors sponsor. They are both wonderful people. I have only had a taste of what sobriety is like and I can't thank them enough for this wonderful opportunity.

My sponsor has been a couple of times and asked me to go. However, early June is a very busy time of work for me and I live a several hundred miles away so and I can't get there. I may make it once I retire.

The press is there but they are not hanging on every corner like a car show....lol. At the beginning of the meeting the chairperson reminds the media not to publish names or pictures without consent.

They do have write ups in the paper.

Thousands arrive in Akron for A.A.

FOUNDERS DAY 2013 REGESTRATION INFO AWARENESS The Home of Alcoholics Anonymous

Dr. Bob's house

Dr Bob's Home | A Site dedicated to the memory of Dr. Bob

I am sure there will be more today/tomorrow.

The atmosphere is a happy one but there are not balloons, music, trinkets and food on every corner like a carnival event. It is like the entire event is for one primary purpose. To stay sober and help others.

Since the event surrounds alcoholics and AA there are not a bunch of people hanging around that just did not have anything better to do but walk around and take in the sites.
