In the future
All the struggles I am having lately have really highlighted the lack of support services in rural areas. In the future I'd love to be part of changing this. My hubby works is youth services and domestic violence services and there are drug and alcohol services for indigenous people (as there absolutely should be) but nothing I can access.
I'd even love to just start up an Na meeting down the track. Has anyone done that?

I live in a rural area as well but i realise i have a different problem, the fact my brothers and friends are similiar i said to my brother last weekend i have an alcohol problem while he said don't start thinking like that maybe you should move home with mom etc. etc. you sound confused then i said no then i went and had pipes of rock lines of mdma drank heaps of booze and smoked some weed. my family/friends cannot comprehend i guess how i feel i kind of realise if i actually want to change its up to me
Hi, MLC
I'm in a sort of isolated location--an island with a population of about 5,000. To start a local NA meeting, I would check with your local NA district office. Where I live, there is only one NA meeting a week (then AA meetings the other six days), so AA and NA are coordinated. Many of the same people are at either meeting, so maybe you could to start out by getting in touch with AA.
This was in our local newspaper this week. A year and a half ago, the sheriff's deputy escorted me from my home in handcuffs and it took ten hours to get me to a hospital, even using an airplane (the pilot was stuck on a ferry boat when they first contacted him...)

Yeah we are in different situations. Do you have meetings around? Or anything?
I have no friends that are similar to me and no family around.
I would love to be able to meet with people in recovery or trying to be. In the city is was so
Different. I could do meetings everyday. There were several options for counselling and other services and specialised drug and alcohol services as well as eating disorder associations.

Thanks Mizzuno. I will have a look around. I did ask in detox when we had meetings and they said to jump online to check it out.
I think there are more services available here because it is not as isolated as you are, and actually I am grateful for what we have. The police here are very helpful, and they know whom to keep an eye on.
How's your working relationship with your local constables?
PS--MLC, you sound great! Easy does it, things WILL get better. What does Dee's signature say?

I don't know if I'm more isolated. I'm 3 or 4 hours away from a major city. Most of the local
Police are out friends from church! Out actual town has one police officer and he is our neighbour. There's only 400 people in our town. The neighbouring town is a little bigger but I would not touch the hospital there with a ten foot pole. We drive an hour if we need the hospital.
